The town of Vietri sul mare, built as an ancient Marcina, is very interesting for tourists because of the suggestive position it occupies, also because it is an almost obligatory route for the opening of the Amalfi Coast.
The art of ceramics is breathed and spread all over the world with the original and unmistakable trademark of the Vietri artisans.
From an artistic point of view, the church of San Giovanni is very important with its high bell tower and majolica dome dating back to before the 11th century, the church of Raito in S. Maria delle Grazie (1540), and that of S. Margherita Albori (dated around 1500)
All the colors of the Amalfi Coast, the deep blue of the sea, the bright green of the woods, the golden orange of the citrus fruits, seem to meet in Vietri, in the glazes and decorations of the ceramics produced since 1600 in this beautiful town in Campania not far from Salerno.
World Heritage Site since 1997, together with the Amalfi Coast, Vietri stands in a splendid position between the hills and the sea.
