The Amalfi Coast has also an excellent local wine, with limited production but expansive flavor: the Costa d’Amalfi DOC, which produces just 250 thousand bottles annually in the three dedicated wine-producing areas: Furore, Ravello, and Tramonti. All the vineyards in this picturesque wine country are on steep hillsides, planted in narrow terraces dug from the limestone cliffs that tower above the sea.

The most important wine producer of the Amalfi coast is “Marisa Cuomo”,the winery is located in the town of Furore, a tiny group of colored houses that are perched on the cliffside above the famous fjord. The most important wine they produce is called “Fior d’Uva”

There are also several wineries in Tramonti and one in Raito called “Le vigne di Raito”

Liquors: Limoncello is not the only famous liquor of the Amalfi coast you have to taste once in the area, there are many others less famous but with their own personality liquors such as the limoncello cream or  the “Concerto” from Tramonti. It is a dense distillate of aromatic herbs and spices such as liquorice, fennel, cloves, nutmeg and mint

4) A romantic local legend about Amalfi and the tightly love between Hercules and the nymph Amalfi 

Countless legends describe the area of the Amalfi Coast, old stories swinging between history and myth, which remain unknown to most of the visitors of this coast line area.

These legends make this place even more fascinating, interesting and one of the most spectacular areas in Italy.

  • The Janare’ legend
  • The Milk Miracle’ legend
  • and the romantic ‘Myth of the Nymph’ of Amalfi.

Myth of the Nymph of Amalfi: it talks about the passionate mythological love between Hercules, son of Zeus, and a lovely nymph called “Amalfi” whose eyes were as blue as the sea. According to the myth, once she prematurely died, hercules decided to bury his beloved in a stunning perfect place: a tiny corner of the Amalfi Coast. Then, on her grave was built a town named Amalfi as his beloved’s name.

5) The climate

The climate on the Amalfi coast is very pleasant, that it is why it could be the perfect choice for your wedding in Italy and in particular for an open air wedding reception. The best months to get married in the area are May, June, September and October because during these months you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures compared to the warmest months July August
